Dear Esteemed Stakeholder,
The Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has completed the review of fuel prices for May 2026 and hereby notifies the public of the following decision:
The Ministry recorded:
1. An under-recovery of 281 cents per litre for petrol,
2. An under-recovery of 974 cents per litre for 50ppm diesel, and
3. An under-recovery of 968 cents per litre for 10ppm diesel.
In light of the above, the Ministry announces that:
- Petrol will increase by N$1.40 per litre
- Diesel 50ppm will increase by N$4.63 per litre
- Diesel 10ppm will increase by N$4.63 per litre
- These adjustments will come into effect on 08 May 2026
Fuel prices in Walvis Bay will be set at N$ N$23.48 per litre for Petrol, N$28.26 per litre for Diesel 50ppm, and N$28.36 per litre for Diesel 10ppm. Fuel prices across the rest of the country will be adjusted accordingly.
- The remaining under-recovery and associated fuel premiums will be absorbed by the National Energy Fund, amounting to approximately N$805 million.
- To support the continued availability of fuel across the country, service stations are directed, for the next three (3) months, to only refuel directly into the customers’ vehicles. The filling of additional drums, cans, or other containers will not be permitted during this period, except those in possession of a Consumer Installation Certificate. This temporary measure is intended to discourage stockpiling, fuel hoarding and ensure that fuel remains accessible to all motorists. The Government is constantly monitoring the situation, including compliance by fuel suppliers.
