Geoscience Advocacy and Promotion (Awareness) which is one of the strategic themes of the Geoscience Council of Namibia for the period 2020-2023. The theme focuses on continuously striving to promote the importance of geoscience in our daily lives as well as to national sustainable development initiatives.

For this reason, the Geoscience Council of Namibia in collaboration with the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) initiated a program (called the “Geoscience Corner” to advance geoscience awareness nation-wide throughout 2022.

This program will produce several radio dramas covering different aspects of geoscience.  The eight geoscientific themes which will be covered by this program are:

1. Hydrogeology and contaminant geology

2. Minerals and rock materials

3. Agro-geology (Rock to Crop) and Medical Geology

4. Engineering geology

5. Geohazards

6. Geoheritage & geotourism

7. Energy

8. Climate change

For the month of February the theme that will be discussed is Hydrogeology and contaminant geology.

Also see attached a document(s) that further elaborate the topics that will be discussed under this theme. The document(s) also highlights the schedule and radio frequencies.
