The Ministry of Mines and Energy recently held a Site Visit Tour to the diamond sorting, cutting and polishing houses on 29 June 2015. 

The initiative was for Government officials to visit and familiarize themselves with Namibia`s diamond industry.  The event was co-hosted with the Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC).   During the tour, the Permanent Secretaries visited Schachter & Namdar Namibia (PTY) Limited, a cutting and polishing factory, situated in Prosperita.  The factory is one of the biggest in the country and it obtains its stones straight from Namibian Suppliers.   "We buy directly from diamond mining companies located near our manufacturing hubs here in and Namibia"said Marc Friedman, Director of Schachter & Namdar Namibia (PTY) Limited . The tour was made more interesting whereby the NDTC had a presentation which informed Government officials on the current status of the diamond industry.
