Minister Tom Alweendo – Minister of Mines and Energy announced that fuel prices in Namibia will increase as of 00H00 on Wednesday, 2nd September 2020. In fact, 50ppm diesel will increase with 15 cents p/l and 95-octane petrol will increase with 30 cents p/l. The new fuel pump prices in Walvis Bay (port of entry) will become N$11.65 p/l for petrol and N$11.98 p/l for diesel. These fuel increases were necessitated due to the recorded under-recoveries during the month of August 2020. Primarily, the price of fuel is influenced mainly by two factors, namely; 1.The international cost of refined petroleum products at which fuel is imported into the country and 2.The exchange rate. Fuel pump prices countrywide will be adjusted accordingly.
