Geoscience InfoRmation in AFrica Workshop  28/01/09

This five-day workshop will be conducted at the Geological Survey of Namibia and will contain keynotes on global and African aspects of geoscience information, lectures on data management, data application and data distribution, presentations about the situation of geoscience information in different African countries, working and discussion groups to developing a strategic plan for Africa’s future in geoscience information and a field trip for all participants. Revisions have been made to the following International Year of Planet Earth Posters:

	For the first time the Geological Society of Namibia, within the framework of the forthcoming "International Year of Planet Earth" (IYPE) in 2008 has published a calender. Featured are satelite images and photographs of geological highlights from the Etosha Pan in the north of the Roter Kamm Meteorite Crater in the south of the country.
The cost is N$50, which will go toward further activities within the IYPE initiative, such as field shools and publications on geoscientific issues. The calendar is available at the sales office of the Geological Survey, Windhoek. To order a copy by mail (local postage add N$6, SADC airmail add N$50, overseas airmail add N$60).
